Westfield made a third-quarter comeback against Mount Vernon Tuesday before falling to the Marauders 35-32 at CSI Gymnasium.
The Marauders were in control for the first half, leading 14-5 after one quarter and 24-10 at halftime. The Shamrocks blasted back in the third period, outscoring Mount Vernon 16-6 to cut its lead to 30-26. Lindsey Van Dyke scored eight points during that quarter. But the Marauders were able to hold on for the win, outscoring Westfield 6-5 in the fourth.
Van Dyke finished the game with 10 points. Aubrey Crockett and MaKayla Hatcher both added six points.
The ‘Rocks are 2-2 and begin Hoosier Crossroads Conference play Friday at Fishers. This will be a varsity-only game that tips off at 6 p.m. The junior varsity game will take place tonight at 6 p.m.
