State Senator and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Scott Baldwin announced on Thursday the endorsement of the Indiana State Police Alliance in his campaign for reelection to represent District 20.
“As a former law enforcement officer, Senator Baldwin understands the importance of law and order in our communities,” Indiana State Police Alliance Executive Director Cory Martin said. “He continues to partner with us on critical issues and delivers a unique and necessary perspective to the Senate. It is vital that we have first-hand perspectives like his when issues arise. His level-headed approach and steadfast resolve on conflicting issues is a direct reflection of his experience in uniform and in business.”
Baldwin iterated his commitment to standing with law enforcement.
“I’m honored to have earned the support of the Indiana State Police Alliance,” Baldwin said. “With more than a decade of experience in law enforcement, including serving as a homicide detective supervisor with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and supervisor in the department’s Metro Drug Task Force, I understand the countless sacrifices officers make every day. That’s why I’ll continue to stand with them on the thin blue line and support those who protect and serve us all.”
In the state Senate, Baldwin has championed efforts to strengthen public safety and support law enforcement and first responders. Those efforts included supporting funding for renovations to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, local law enforcement training grants, pay raises for state troopers, construction of new regional firefighter training sites, equipment for volunteer firefighter departments and a PFAS biomonitoring pilot program, among others. He also supported the creation of the Hoosier First Responder Medal of Honor to recognize first responders who go above and beyond the call of duty in service to their fellow Hoosiers.
Baldwin, with more than 25 years of military and law enforcement experience, is a successful entrepreneur and business owner, a husband, and a father of three.
During his time with the Indianapolis Police Department, he earned two Medals of Bravery and a Medal of Valor.
