Tennis: Millers going back to state

The Noblesville boys tennis team is heading back to the state finals.

The No. 18-ranked Millers claimed their second consecutive semi-state championship last Saturday, beating No. 19 Fort Wayne Carroll 4-1 at the Homestead 1 semi-state. Noblesville won all four of their matches in straight sets.

In singles play, No. 2 Zane Panning won 6-1, 6-3 and No. 3 Max Habel was victorious 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, No. 1 Jack Brenneman and Dane Campbell were 6-3, 6-2 winners and No. 2 Parker Stallings and Dustin Turpin won 6-2, 6-1.

The Millers will take on No. 6 Jasper at 10 a.m. Friday in the state quarterfinals, at North Central’s Barbara Wynne Tennis Center.

Over at Center Grove, No. 21 Fishers dropped a 4-1 semi-state match to the host and No. 4-ranked Trojans last Saturday.
