Bach to Rock, America’s music school for students of all ages, unveiled on Monday its latest franchisee profile, spotlighting Kellie Miles, the co-owner and director of the Bach to Rock Music School in Fishers.

Miles’ journey exemplifies how hard work, determination, and a passion for music can create opportunities and lead to success in music franchising. She is a multi-talented individual – a musician, teacher, and entrepreneur – who leverages her diverse skill set to drive the music school’s success.

Miles began singing at a young age in the Kokomo Children’s Choir, where she became classically trained and toured nationally. Growing up performing and being immersed in music from the Sixties and Seventies thanks to her dad, she pursued her undergraduate degree at Indiana University, with a music minor. She continued to graduate school and obtained her master’s degree in teaching from Marian University.

After completing her education, Miles taught middle and elementary school music while simultaneously volunteering for several community organizations. In 2018, she discovered an opportunity to become a part-time music instructor at Bach to Rock Carmel, owned by Andy and Jennifer Flickner.

“From the moment I walked into the Carmel school for my interview with Andy and Jen, I fell in love,” Miles said. “It was so clear. Bach to Rock brought together all my passions and skills.”

Miles quickly became immersed in the operations of the Carmel school and advanced to become the assistant director. When the Flickners considered opening a second school in Fishers, Miles offered herself as a potential partner without hesitation. In three short years, she rose from part-time music instructor to assistant director at Bach to Rock Carmel, and finally in 2021 to co-owner of Bach to Rock Fishers.

Miles considers her work ethic, her passion for music and musicians, and for helping others, as core values that have helped her achieve these milestones.

“I work hard and am unwilling to fail,” Miles said. “And I love what I do. Every day I try to be a better business owner, a better manager, and a better educator. These are my guiding principles, coupled with the belief that we should be having fun and focusing on the joy of what we get to do every day.”

“Kellie is one of our most dynamic and enthusiastic franchisees,” Bach to Rock Music School President Brian Gross said. “Following in the example of Andy and Jen Flickner, Kellie cares deeply about her community and about helping students aspire to succeed in music. Plus, she infuses the school with her enterprising spirit and firsthand experience as a musician. The families and students at the Fishers school have a gem with Kellie at the helm.”
