Volleyball: Huskies get their 20th season win

The Hamilton Heights volleyball team reached the 20-win mark on Monday.

The Huskies took care of Scecina in four sets, 25-16, 21-25, 25-12, 25-23. Heights got good swings in the front row and solid serves from Kennedy Cherry in the first set, then rebounded after dropping the second set with strong defense in the third set. Emma Blanton totaled 12 kills for the game.

Last Saturday, the Huskies won two matches at the Harrison Invitational. Heights started with a 25-7, 25-13 victory over Plainfield, then beat the host Raiders 25-19, 25-22. Sierra Bramel dished out 33 assists for the tournament, while Olivia Schiffli began the Plainfield match with a 7-0 serving run.

The Huskies are 20-3 and play tonight at Delta.

Westfield scored a Senior Night sweep on Monday, beating North Central 25-20, 25-19, 25-17.

Paige Rudolph put down seven kills for the Shamrocks, while Audrey Davis had six kills. Kendyl Strack served three aces and collected 19 digs on defense. Rudolph also had 14 digs. Izzy Jackson made 19 assists and Emily Blevins dished out 11.

Last Saturday, Westfield went 2-0 at the Yorktown Four-Way.

The Rocks first beat Noblesville in four sets 26-28, 25-15, 25-14, 25-18. Carsyn Comer and Rudloph both hit 11 kills, with Bassett hitting nine and Davis eight. Blevins served five aces and Bassett hit three.

Comer was dominant at the net with five blocks. Strack made 19 digs, Blevins collected 14 and Jackson had 13. Jackson handed out 25 assists and Blevins dished out 21.

Chloe Macias had 12 kills for the Millers, with Lauren Flynn hitting 10. Macias also made four blocks. Maggie Hall had 13 digs and Madison Brown dished out 27 assists.

Westfield then beat Fort Wayne Carroll in four sets, 25-16, 25-22, 15-25, 25-22. Bassett smacked 14 kills, while Comer and Rudolph both hit nine. Blevins served five aces and Comer made three blocks. Strack collected 18 digs, followed by Jackson with 10. Jackson also had 26 assists and Blevins handed out 17.

Noblesville dropped its second match to host Yorktown, 25-15, 25-16, 25-13. Ashlynn Turner had seven kills, with Brown handing out 18 assists. Hall collected 12 digs.

The Millers swept Heritage Christian on Tuesday, 25-10, 25-17, 25-15.

Westfield is 18-6 and plays a Hoosier Crossroads Conference match tonight at Avon. Noblesville is 16-6 and plays at Hamilton Southeastern Thursday in an HCC match.

Hamilton Southeastern swept four matches at the Crown Point Invitational last Saturday.

The Royals swept Elkhart 25-16, 25-8; Lindsey Mangelson hit 12 kills and Ava Hunter had 19 assists. Mangelson hit another 12 kills in Southeastern’s 25-16, 25-12 victory over Bishop Noll. Madison Miles put down 11 kills. Mangelson also had 11 digs. Jasmine Daniels dished out 17 assists and Hunter handed out 14 assists.

The Royals continued to roll with a 25-16, 25-19 win over Homestead. Mangelson once again hit 12 kills, with Hunter handing out 21 assists. Southeastern swept Crown Point 25-22, 25-21; Mangelson and Miles both put down nine kills. Hunter had 26 assists.

The Royals are 23-2 and host Noblesville tonight in an HCC match.

Sheridan beat Rossville in four sets Tuesday in a Hoosier Heartland Conference match.

The set scores were 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15. Trinity Parkin hit 12 kills, while Lainey Mendenhall and Kenzie Garner both put down 10 kills. Mendenhall also made six blocks and Adria Jump dished out 39 assists.

The Blackhawks’ defense combined for 87 digs. Meredith Krupp collected 20 digs, followed by 17 for Parkin, 15 for Garner, 14 for Jump and 12 for Nova Cross.

Sheridan finished HHC play in second place with a 6-1 record; Eastern won the conference title with a 7-0 record. The Blackhawks are 13-8 overall and play Thursday at Mississinewa.

Guerin Catholic swept Cardinal Ritter on Tuesday, 25-16, 25-14, 25-22.

Last Saturday, the Golden Eagles went 2-2 at the Cathedral Invitational. Guerin Catholic got two-set wins over Blackhawk Christian (25-19, 25-16) and Columbus East (25-18, 25-16), while falling to New Castle (25-15, 25-15) and New Albany (16-25, 25-22, 15-7).

The Golden Eagles are 11-14 and play tonight at Lebanon.

University split two matches at the Pioneer Conference tournament last Saturday.

The Trailblazers beat Park Tudor 25-21, 25-16, then fell to Muncie Burris 25-12, 25-16.

University is 8-11 and hosts Rooted School on Friday.

Fishers dropped a five-set match to Mount Vernon Tuesday, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14, 22-25, 15-10.

The Tigers are 16-12 and play Saturday at the Greenfield-Central Invitational.
