Noblesville falls just short at Homecoming

The REPORTER

Noblesville dropped a back-and-forth Homecoming game to Franklin Central last Saturday by the score of 35-28.

The Flashes scored the only points of the first quarter on a field goal. The Millers jumped ahead 8-3 in the second period after Ty Holmes punched the ball in from the one-yard line, then Israel Oladipupo made a successful two-point conversion run.

Franklin Central moved back in front 9-8 by halftime after a long touchdown pass, then surged ahead 20-8 after three quarters. The Flashes scored on a short touchdown run, made a two-point pass, then kicked another field goal.

Noblesville blasted back in front with two touchdown runs, starting with a two-yard score from Luke Hile. Oladipupo ran in from 11 yards minutes later, and the Millers held a 21-20 lead.

But FC went back ahead after Nate Jones made a 48-yard kickoff return to the end zone, and the Flashes held the lead from there. A short TD run completed the Flashes’ scoring. Noblesville kept things close after Aiden Brewer caught an 81-yard touchdown pass from Max Miller, but the Millers would get no closer.

Miller finished the game 5-of-11 through the air with 134 yards. Caden Lydle made both of his extra-point kicks.

Noblesville is 0-4 in the conference and 2-4 overall. The Millers host Hamilton Southeastern on Friday.
