Noblesville man dies after jumping into retention pond

Last Friday, Sept. 20, at approximately 4:01 p.m., Noblesville police officers and firefighters responded to the area of Windwood Parkway and Hague Road in reference to a 911 call of a person in a retention pond.

The caller stated that the middle-aged man was seen in the pond standing on top of the water fountain located in the middle of the pond. The caller stated the subject then jumped back in the water and never resurfaced.

Officers and firefighters arrived on the scene a short time later and immediately attempted to locate the subject. A diver from the fire department was able to locate the subject submerged underwater near where he was last seen. Immediate medical attention and care was provided, and the subject was transported by ground ambulance to Riverview Health in Noblesville in critical condition. The subject was pronounced deceased a short time after arriving at the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Zachery R. Polson, 35, Noblesville. The cause of death will be determined by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.
