Keith L. Bales

April 13, 1935 – September 19, 2024

Keith L. Bales, 89, formerly of Mooreland, Ind., Sanders Glen in Westfield, and more recently of Riverwalk Village in Noblesville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was born April 13, 1935, in New Castle, Ind., to the late Claude Luther and Eileen (Cromis) Bales.

Keith was a man of many hats, but mostly cowboy hats! He spent 20 years selling seed corn, was a manager at Mooreland Grain Elevator for 16 years, and was a member of the Blue River Valley School Board for eight years. He also worked for Frakes Industrial in Westfield and sold insurance for AFLAC. Keith had a love of horses and enjoyed training them. He was a member of the Henry County Saddle Club and the Mooreland Lions Club. Keith was also a member of the First Christian Church of Mooreland, where he served as a trustee, deacon and Sunday school teacher. Most recently, he attended the Arcadia Christian Church. Keith was loved by all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his children, Diana (Stephen) Brown of Atlanta, Ind., Steven Bales (Gregg Covey) of St. Marys, Ga., Bob (Jane) Bales of Georgetown, Ind., and LeeAnn (Rob) Chriswell of Etna Green, Ind.; sisters, Sondra (Vernon) Oakerson of Losantville, Ind., and Martha (Larry) Griffin of Muncie; sister-in-law, Naida Bales of Mooreland; grandchildren, Erin Allen, Trevor (Stephanie) Brown, Justin (Ashley) Brown, Jeremy Bales, Jacob (Danielle) Bales, Jordan (Kristen) Bales, Donald “B.J.” (Stevie) Davidson, Brittany Davidson (Kayla Jenkins), and Cody (Hannah) Davidson; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Pierce) Bales, and his brother, Bill Bales.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
