Westfield’s Kevin Plawecki had a sensational day as part of the New York Mets’ Opening Day win over the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-4 at Citi Field on Thursday.
The catcher Plawecki was 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and batting in one more. Plawecki scored his runs in the second and fifth inning, then singled in the Mets’ final run of the game in the eighth inning, scoring Asdrubal Cabrera.
The Mets are off today and will continue their series with St. Louis Saturday at Citi Field. The first pitch will be at 1:10 p.m.
