Emagine Noblesville will hold a special one-night only screening event of supernatural thriller, The Occult, with director Peter Hyoguchi in attendance.

Guests will be able to attend the screening for free, take part in a Q&A session, and have a chance to meet with Hyoguchi after the 7 p.m. showing on Wednesday, Sept. 25. Joining Hyoguchi via Zoom for the Q&A session will be horror legend Tom Holland, who plays the role of Uncle Walter, the diabolical villain in the film.

In The Occult, a young man is seduced by a mysterious fortune-teller who lures him into a sinister world which threatens to eat him alive. Hyoguchi is promoting his self-released film with a nation-wide tour traveling around the country and bringing The Occult directly to movie theatre exhibitors, giving horror and thriller fans the ability to experience his work on the big screen.

The Occult marks Hyoguchi’s fourth feature film and uses a mixture of traditional and virtual production techniques that Hyoguchi has taught in several filmmaking classes as UCLA, New York Film Academy, FIDM, and at The Academy of Art University.

Hyoguchi was raised in Los Angeles and learned the craft of visual storytelling at a young age. He started creating his own cartoons by age 10. By age 15, his sci-fi short The Future’s Future won George Lucas’ youth film festival in 1988 and aired on PBS. In 2012, he founded the VFX company Roninfilm which created CGI effects for the SyFy Channel. He is a two-time recipient of the Epic MegaGrant for Gods of Mars which utilized a new kind of virtual production pipeline with a team of game designers and Oscar-winning visual effects artists.

Holland is known for his work writing and directing horror and thriller films. His directorial debut occurred with the popular 1980’s Vampire film, Fright Night and then lead to the number-one box office hit, Child’s Play. Holland has directed films based upon adaptations of Stephen King’s novels and has even held roles in The Stand and Hatchet II.

This is a free screening. Seating is limited to auditorium capacity. Tickets are limited and must be reserved in advance by visiting TheOccultMovie.com.

Emagine Noblesville is located at 13825 Norell Road in Hamilton Town Center.
