Time to go nuts for Squirrel Stampede 1K/3K family fun run

Photo provided

This fall marks the 202nd anniversary of the Great Squirrel Stampede of 1822, and the Carmel Clay Historical Society has organized a nutty race for all ages. Proceeds will help fund the new Carmel Clay History Museum, which is set to open in November.

This laid-back 1K/3K family fun run and dog trot is set for 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Grab your friends and family and enjoy a beautiful morning walking or run the paths at Coxhall Gardens in Carmel. Strollers and furry friends are welcome for this lowkey 1K/3K.

The event has lots of fun features, including:

  • Squirrel Stampede T-shirt and bandanas for the pups
  • Kids activities, craft, and games
  • Bounce houses
  • Java House coffee, Kona Ice, and other free treats
  • Children’s Golden Acorn hunt with prizes
  • Photo opportunity area
  • Stations along the route with fun Squirrel Stampede history
