The REPORTER

A 1-vs.-2 girls soccer showdown resulted in a draw last Saturday.

Class 3A second-ranked Hamilton Southeastern traveled to 3A No. 1 Noblesville’s Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex, and the two teams played to a 1-1 tie. The game was scoreless at halftime.

The Millers got their goal with nine minutes remaining in the second half when Atley Pittman put in a free kick from around 30 yards outside the box. The Royals responded minutes later, with under three minutes to go. Southeastern got a corner kick that was played in. The ball landed at the feet of Sydney May just outside the six-yard box, and she kicked it in.

Both goalkeepers, Noblesville’s Bella Wyatt and Southeastern’s Hannah Dodge, played well in goal.

The Millers are 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference after Saturday’s tie. Noblesville plays three games this week, playing another HCC contest Wednesday at Fishers, then hosting Fort Wayne Canterbury on Friday night and Warsaw Saturday morning.

Southeastern is 5-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference. The Royals play an HCC game at Avon Wednesday, host Plainfield Friday and play Saturday morning at North Central.
