Roger Lee Bryant, 81, Noblesville, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson.

Roger was born in Noblesville on October 22, 1942, to the late Nolan and Dorotha (Berg) Bryant. On March 28, 1965, he married Diana (Sumner) Bryant and together they shared 59 years of marriage.

Roger attended Walnut Grove High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1960. While at Walnut Grove, Roger had several athletic accomplishments while playing basketball and baseball. In basketball, he scored 1,071 points and became a member of the 1,000-point club. He tied the school record for most points in one game (37) and was a 3x All-County Team honoree. He holds the record for most points in a single Hamilton County Tourney game (32) and most total points in the Hamilton County Tourney (71).

After Roger graduated from high school, he attended Automotive School of Nashville, Tenn., and then went on to work at Emges in Anderson for eight years. Roger was then offered a job at General Motors in Anderson where he worked for over 33 years before his retirement in October of 2003. Throughout his career, Roger also continued to help on the family farm in Walnut Grove. Roger was a member of the former Arcadia United Methodist Church, where he attended regular service and volunteered in several capacities.

Roger was inducted into the Hamilton County Basketball Hall of Fame and the Hamilton Heights Hall of Fame. In his free time, he enjoyed watching sports, fishing, traveling to the western parts of the United States, taking care of his yard, playing euchre, tending to the birds in his backyard, and showing off his pool and ping pong skills. Roger remained a sports enthusiast throughout his life and loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He was also a big fan and supporter of Hamilton Heights Athletics. Roger’s real joy came when he got to spend time with his family and friends.
