Timothy Forrest “Tim” Coffey, 59, Fishers, passed away on Thursday evening, August 1, 2024, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born December 20, 1964, in Columbus, Ind., he was the son of the late Charles and Mildred (Ferguson) Coffey.
He was a 1983 graduate of Westfield High School.
For 18 years, Tim worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Carmel. Working for the city was so much more than just a job to Tim. When anyone else would roll their eyes and sigh at the mention of snow in Hamilton County, Tim had the opposite reaction. It was time to do one of his favorite things at work: hop in a plow truck. And as the cold Indiana winters turned to spring and summer, so began Tim’s second favorite activity: firing up the street sweeper. Tim took great pride in the way he was able to help the city look her best. He also enjoyed helping out with many of the special events that were held each year, including the annual Kris Kringle event.
Tim was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Lowell Beaver Post #470 in Fishers. He loved playing poker, but he enjoyed occasions when he dealt poker at the Legion even more.
When Tim found himself with some free time, it was usually reserved for hunting and fishing, or settling down with a good John Wayne movie.
Tim is survived by his wife, Kellie Sue (Jones) Coffey. She and Tim were married in 2000. Also surviving are his sons, Jeremy Coffey (Erica) of Indianapolis, and Zach Coffey of Indianapolis; stepson, Ezra Clemons of Indianapolis; stepdaughter, Tyra Clemons of Indianapolis; several siblings; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mildred (Ferguson) Coffey.
A celebration of life will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Fishers American Legion Post #470, 9091 E. 126th St., Fishers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the Fishers American Legion Post #470.
