Classic cars come to Cicero Red Bridge Park on Labor Day

The annual Car Show at Red Bridge Park is like stepping back in time. With this year’s gorgeous Labor Day forecast, you certainly don’t want to miss it! According to Hoosier Weather Daddy Paul Poteet, it’ll be a perfect sunny and 75. (Reporter file photo)

In 1991, the well-known Red Bridge Park Car Show began, and it has grown over the last 33 years to more than 200 cars participating annually.

Celebrate your Labor Day by attending this year’s car show on Monday, Sept. 2.

The car show has been run by Cicero Friends of the Park, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, since 2013 and 100 percent of the proceeds from the event go right back into supporting the parks. The Cicero Friends of the Park committee provides the car show staff, food staff, and plays host to the vendor craft show.

Every year, the car show has wonderful sponsors to help offset costs (trophies, food, and door prizes) so the people of Cicero can enjoy this great event as well as others to the park. This year those sponsors are First Farmers Bank and Trust and Berrycom.

The Red Bridge Car Show is an “open” car show, which means that any car, truck, jeep, motorcycle, etc. can participate in the car show and judging by registering for just $15 per vehicle, regardless of the age of the vehicle.

Registration is open between 8 and 11 a.m. Exclusive Car Show license plates will be awarded to the Top 30 cars chosen by the judges. The first 150 participants who register will also receive a free dash plaque. The event is free for the public to come and browse the cars and the craft fair and enjoy breakfast or lunch or both – come out and support the Cicero community. The awards presentation is set for 2:30 p.m., unless weather requires event organizers to move up the time.

Volunteers are always encouraged to help support this event. You can sign up to volunteer by going to tinyurl.com/CiceroCarShow2024. Many local politicians have come out to help serve food and judge the cars.

The Cicero American Legion also participates annually by providing the presentation of the colors during the National Anthem at noon.

Cicero Friends of the Park hosts the Cicero Kids Go Fishing on the first Saturday in June every year, as well as concerts, a Jeep event with a free will donation Spaghetti Dinner for first responders (this year set for Sept. 15), and the Haunted Trail, which will be on Oct. 25 and 26 this year.
