May 9, 1939 – August 14, 2024
Linda Louise Fosnight, 85, Sheridan, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024. She was born on May 9, 1939, to the late Milton Verne and Evelyn Louise (Bidgood) Kelshaw in Indianapolis.
Linda always loved telling the story of how she met her husband Richard Harold Fosnight. She was outside of her family’s home, and they caught each other’s eyes as he was walking by. It was an instant attraction. They started dating, and on August 4, 1956, the two of them were married. They had spent 52 years at each other’s sides until his passing in November of 2008.
She loved being outdoors, and she was an avid gardener. She took great pride working in her flower gardens, and she loved to show off her gardens.
She also loved to go camping and spent time with her family. She would look forward to sitting around the fire roasting marshmallows and telling stories.
When her children were at school, she could be found watching her soap operas, always catching up on her favorite soap, The Young and the Restless. Linda was an avid reader; she enjoyed reading fiction and nonfiction books – it didn’t matter to her, just as long as it struck her interest. She just loved to learn, but every morning she would read the Ledger newspaper to catch up on all the news.
Linda is going to be greatly missed by her family. She was a devoted mother to Beverly (Bryan) Jones, Richard (Pamela) Fosnight, Benita (Jeffrey) Johnson, Donna Smith, Freddie (Robin) Fosnight, and Teddie Fosnight. She was a loving grandmother to 32 and a proud great-grandmother to 53. She also leaves behind her siblings, Donald L. Kelshaw, Larry V. (Marsha) Kelshaw, Dennis Kelshaw, and Patricia Little, along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding Linda in death are her daughters, Wanda Kay Edwards and Treena Mae Gordon; her son, Sammie J. Fosnight; and her two brothers, Butch Kelshaw and Glenn Kelshaw.
Linda’s services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2024, at The Bible Church, 1478 State Road 38, Sheridan, where family and friends are invited to gather from 11 a.m. till the time of services. Burial will follow at Eagle Creek Cemetery. Pastor Harrell T. Wilson will be officiating her service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society for Hamilton County, 10501 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038.
