SATURDAY: Westfield Youth Assistance Program presents “The Double” walk/run

Westfield Youth Assistance Program (WYAP) has announced its inaugural Walk/Run event, “The Double,” which will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Cool Creek Park.

The title sponsor for the event is Hamilton County-based Valeo Financial Advisors.

“The Double” is a two-mile walk/run event with two separate divisions. The competitive division begins at 8 a.m. and is chip-timed, while the Family Fun walk/run division begins at 8:25 a.m. and is held at a more leisurely pace. “The Double” aims to be a vibrant event that brings together Hamilton County and Westfield residents to support WYAP.

“We’re excited to launch ‘The Double,’ a two-mile race that not only promotes fitness but also shows our commitment to doubling the impact of the Westfield Youth Assistance Program,” Dan Morrow, WYAP Board Member and Run/Walk Committee Chair, said. “This event brings our community together to support our youth and raise awareness for the vital resources WYAP provides. It’s all about coming together for a brighter future for Westfield’s kids and families.”

Registration is open on the Walk/Run website. Families of three to six can also mix and match the Competitive and Family divisions by selecting the Multiple Person Pricing option during registration. Registration will remain open until just before the race begins.

Proceeds from “The Double” will help support WYAP’s services, including mentoring, tutoring, mental health supports, camps, and other enrichment activities. WYAP has seen a drastic increase in need as Westfield has continued to expand rapidly. “The Double” is a great way to help continue to meet this growing need and is a phenomenal opportunity to connect with the community.
