Attorneys, paralegals and members of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association will convene Monday, Aug. 19 in Noblesville for the “Winning Truck Wreck Cases” seminar. The seminar is chaired by David W. Craig and Scott A. Faultless of the Indianapolis-based personal injury law firm, Craig, Kelley & Faultless.
Attendees must register for the event ahead of time. It will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Embassy Suites Noblesville. David Craig and Scott Faultless, two of the founding partners at Craig, Kelley & Faultless, look forward to hosting legal professionals from across the state.
Craig and Faultless are both on the Board of Regents of the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, which requires board certification in Truck Accident Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. They have been honored in the past several editions of The Best Lawyers in America and named as Indiana Super Lawyer honorees, an achievement awarded to only 5 percent of the state’s attorneys, for the past several years.
For over 25 years, their firm has represented victims of personal injury and wrongful death caused by large-truck and commercial motor vehicle wrecks. With this seminar, Craig and Faultless hope to further their peers’ understanding of truck accident law and truck wrecks.
They will be joined by seven other speakers:
- Bryan Bradley, Allen Law Group
- Andy Young, The Law Firm for Truck Safety
- Daniel Buba, Doehrman Buba Ring
- Eric Oliver, National Trial Consultant, Metasystems Consulting
- Kevin Johnson, Crash Consulting Services, LLC
- Ben Phelps, Crash Consulting Services, LLC
- Harry Adler, Institute for Safer Trucking
These speakers will discuss truck safety, the steps taken in truck-wreck cases, air brakes, depositions, insurance coverage, data collection, trial strategy, and more. Guests will have the opportunity to get an up-close look at two semi-trucks. The seminar will close with an “ask-a-lawyer” panel, where the speakers will answer attendees’ specific truck-accident questions.
Beyond this seminar, managing partner David Craig seeks to educate the public with his podcast, After the Crash, and in his book Semitruck Wreck: A Guide for Victims and their Families, published in 2020.
Indiana truck wrecks are deadlier and more frequent than ever. Data from NHTSA collected over the past 10 years follows the increase of fatalities from heavy-truck wrecks. In 2013, 99 people in Indiana died in truck wrecks. In 2022, the most recent year with available data, 157 died.
Distracted, impaired, and drowsy driving; inadequate training; and lack of supervision are all issues plaguing the trucking industry and contributing to the growing number of fatalities. This seminar and the lawyers involved are pushing for change to save lives.
