Ram reaches finals, guaranteed medal

The REPORTER

No matter what happens this weekend, Carmel’s Rajeev Ram is coming home from the 2024 Paris Olympics with a medal.

Ram and his partner Austin Krajicek reached the final of the men’s doubles tournament by winning their semifinal match on Thursday. The fourth-seeded Americans beat the Czech Republic team of Tomas Machac and Adam Pavlasek 6-2, 6-2 to reach the final.

Ram and Krajicek will play for the gold medal on Saturday, with their opponent to be determined today when the other semifinal match is played. That semifinal will see third-seeded Americans Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul take on Australians Matthew Ebden and John Peers.

This will be the second time Ram gets an Olympic medal. He teamed with Venus Williams at the 2016 Rio De Janeiro games to win the silver medal.
