On Tuesday, Congresswoman Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.-05) was honored by National Taxpayers Union (NTU) for having one of the strongest voting records in Washington, D.C., for supporting limited government, economic freedom, and low taxes.
Rep. Spartz is one of only 38 House members to have earned the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” and an “A” rating.
“Our unsustainable fiscal path is a national security crisis with the serious implications of inflation and uncontrolled debt for many Americans,” Spartz said. “I am honored to receive the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award” and will continue my work to get our fiscal situation, neglected for decades, under control.”
Since 1979, NTU has annually recognized Representatives and Senators who earn high voting scores to qualify them for the “Taxpayers’ Friend Award.”
“Our nation is facing unprecedented fiscal challenges and Congress must act in a more fiscally responsible manner,” NTU President Pete Sepp said. “Casting votes to reduce spending and limit the growth of government is not always easy, but taxpayers should know that Representative Spartz has been one of the most consistent advocates for fiscal discipline. On behalf of the people who pay government’s bills, National Taxpayers Union thanks Representative Spartz for her strong voting record.”
NTU included 51 Senate votes and 223 House votes in the 2023 scorecard. NTU’s rating program is designed to calculate a Member’s voting record on fiscal responsibility by evaluating every vote that has an impact on tax, spending, trade, and regulatory policy utilizing a methodical weighting system. No other fiscal policy scorecard is as comprehensive as NTU’s.
