Westfield’s Cesare headed to Boys State Junior semifinals

The REPORTER

Westfield’s Jake Cesare has reached the semifinals of the Indiana Golf Foundation’s Boys State Junior Championship at Purdue’s Ackerman-Allen course.

The Shamrocks’ senior-to-be won two matches on Thursday to advance to the final four. In the Round of 16, Cesare beat Guerin Catholic graduate Leo Wessel 2 Up. That sent Cesare into the quarterfinals, where he cruised to victory against Fort Wayne’s Alex Holder 6 & 5.

Cesare will take on Goshen’s Brayden Miller in the second semifinal, which begins at 8:08 a.m. Their match follows the first semifinal between Fort Wayne’s Justin Hicks and Lafayette’s Sam Peter, which starts at 8 a.m. The championship match will take place later that afternoon.
