Doris Jean (Curry) Parish

November 22, 1942 – June 1, 2024

Doris Jean (Curry) Parish, 81, Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Indianapolis.

She was born on November 22, 1942, to the late Chester and Esther (Bloebaum) Curry in Sullivan, Ind. Doris graduated from Dugger High School, Class of 1960. Doris knew the value of an education and in 1970 she decided to attend Indiana Business College in Vincennes. After completing business college, she worked at St. Mary’s Hospital, and after several years of working with the patients and their families, she decided to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Doris loved to garden, and she took a lot of pride growing various flowers and vegetables, especially concentrating on her roses. Her family and friends would come over just to see her garden of flowers. The last few years, Doris lived at Spicewood Garden Apartments where she had had a beautiful flower garden. They asked Doris if they could use her flower garden on the front of their brochure.

When she wasn’t tending to her garden, Doris looked forward to her shopping trips and taking care of her cats.

Doris will be greatly missed by her family: daughter, Angie (Jason) Walters; grandson, Daniel Ryan Walters, and two great-grandchildren, Emma and Nicole. She also leaves behind three siblings, Betty (Ed) Doll, Wayne “Butch” Curry, and Ed Curry; along with her four cats, Blackie, Tommy, Zany, and Sandy.

Doris is preceded in death by her brother, Chester, and her sisters, Mary, Emma, and Carol.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Everyone is invited to sign the online guestbook, leave a condolence or share a memory at fisherfunerals.com.

Fisher Family Funeral Services is honored to serve the Parish and Walters family.
