NOBLESVILLE – The weather couldn’t have been any better last Saturday afternoon for Noblesville baseball’s Senior Day at Dunker Field against Brebeuf Jesuit.

Sunny skies and the wind blowing is nothing new to a central Indiana spring. Four innings scoring multiple runs and forcing five errors by the Braves helped the Millers light up the scoreboard to the tune of an 11-2 win on Senior Day.

Brebeuf put the first run on the board in the top of the second. Ethan Norris launched a high fly ball to left that wound up over the fence for a wind-aided solo home run and a 1-0 Braves lead.

That slim lead was short-lived, as Noblesville sent nine hitters to the plate in the bottom of the second.

McCoy Fulk led off with a walk. Joe Glander and Blake Widget were both hit by Christian Forniss pitches consecutively to load the bases. Brady Bishop singled on the ground to short to score Fulk and tie it 1-1.

Trevor Corbett hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Widget from third for 2-1. Josh Peek came in to courtesy run for Glander and scored on a wild pitch. Aiden Reynolds then sent a base hit to left to drive in Bishop to go to 4-1.

Over the next two-plus innings, pitcher Joe Glander limited the Braves, despite four walks. The junior forced three groundouts and three outs through the air.

The Millers added a couple more in the fourth. Corbett reached on an error by the third baseman Nick Sobek. Jacob Baker dropped a hit into right center to plate Corbett.  Fulk got on again with Sobek’s second error of the inning, scoring Reynolds that made it 6-1.

Josh Peek, Brady Bishop and Baker all scored in the fifth to push the lead to 9-1 through five.

The Braves got their second run in the sixth, but another pair touched home in the home half of the sixth for Noblesville for the final score of 11-2.

The win was the fourth this week for Noblesville and ninth in its last 10.

Reynolds led the Millers at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Corbett also drove in two, while Widget, Peek and Bishop all three scored twice.

Glander (2-0) got the win on the mound, going 4.1 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. Quinton Black struck out four in 2.2 innings.

Noblesville (14-3) starts a busy week tonight with a home date against the Northwestern Tigers at 6:30 p.m. The Millers get back to Hoosier Crossroads Conference action at home on Thursday against Hamilton Southeastern and visit HSE on Friday. Saturday, the Avon Orioles visit for a doubleheader that starts at 12 p.m.

Prior to tonight’s game, the Millers will be honoring the 2014 Class 4A State Championship team, along with the late junior varsity gold coach Gene Marinacci.
