On Wednesday, the Noblesville Lions Club welcome Noblesville High School teachers Shelby Metzler and Jill Pangle, who specialize and teach visually impaired students. They focus on Braille, Self-Determination, and Understanding Visual Scenes by Feel. Pangle has a focus on Orientation and Mobility.
An activity like changing classrooms is a simple task for a normal student, but when blind, a larger challenge exists. Noblesville currently has around 40 students in the program.
Metzler and Pangle showed samples of printouts used in the program, as well as Brilliant, a braille writer.
The Lions Club donated funds to the school in the past for equipment to help in the program. These tools are helping the students have a normal life. These ladies kept the club well focused on the information they presented.
