The Fishers girls basketball team got down early, but rebounded quickly to beat Carmel 44-37 Tuesday night in an all-county game at the Tiger Den.
The Greyhounds went up 7-0 during the first three minutes of the game. Mackenzie Woods got the first basket, followed by a score from Izzy Shepherd, then Woods hit a 3-pointer.
Talia Harris got the Tigers on the board with a 3, and Fishers worked its way back to get within 8-7 by the end of the first quarter. Harris completely took over in the second period, pouring in 11 points. Carmel stayed in it thanks to five points each from Woods and Jamie Elliott, and the teams were tied 20-20 at halftime.

The Tigers used balanced scoring to pull slightly ahead by the end of the third quarter, when they led 34-31. Five different players got points during that quarter, including four each from Nevaeh Dickman and Allison Scheu. Meanwhile, Shepherd nailed two 3s for the ‘Hounds in the third.
Fishers outscored Carmel 10-6 in the fourth to clinch the win. Harris had four of those points; she led all scorers with 20 points. Scheu finished with 10.
Woods had 13 points for the Greyhounds, including three 3-pointers. Shepherd scored 12 points.
The Tigers improved to 14-5 after winning their final home game of the season. Fishers plays at Avon Saturday in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game. Carmel is 8-10 and also plays Friday, traveling to Pike.
