Irvin Lynn Lewis

June 30, 1938 – January 1, 2024

Irvin Lynn Lewis, 85, Westfield, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Riverview Health in Noblesville.

Irvin was born to Jess and Clara Lewis on June 30, 1938. He was the middle child of three children, older sister Barb and younger brother Dale. Irvin loved to laugh and have fun. He often came across as a jokester and had his share of idioms to share. His most often used was, “It is what it is.”

He was a graduate of Wood High School Class of 1956. There he was a member of the school choir, which gave him the opportunities to be a part of a quartet. After high school, he traveled for a year to sing. One of the members got sick and had to leave the group.

Irvin had two boys from a high school relationship, David and Dennis Lewis. He left Indiana, went to California, then returned to Indiana, and reconnected with Mary Ann. They were married on March 4, 1967, and soon after they added a 10-year-old girl to their family and loved her as their own.

Irvin and Mary loved to spend time over the years traveling and camping, driving to their favorite music venue or visiting family. One year while driving home, the transmission went out on the truck, and he was handy enough to replace the transmission at the camp ground.

He loved to spend his time keeping busy with camping, fishing, fixing things (Mr. Fix It), woodworking, yard work, or card playing. Irvin was a resident of Indianapolis until 1971 when he moved from the south side to Westfield, and later to Noblesville in 2008.

He loved his job at Carmel Welding for over 40 years. He only got to spend a few years after retirement, shopping, dining out, and playing with his dog that he loved. He enjoyed eating out and getting a full meal. Irvin’s health went on the decline just before June 2022, more so after his wife of 55 years entered into her own health problems. They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, and these visits meant the world to Irvin. He loved his family and people and would often say, “I love everybody.”

So today we celebrate a life well lived to its fullest. Loving life, family, and having fun.

Irvin is survived by his sister, Barbara Cox; children, Beverlye (Scott) Norman, David (Joy) Lewis, and Dennis (Dawn) Lewis; grandchildren, Chad and Debbie Norman, Chelsie and Ryan Hufferd, Rosemarie and Joseph Ferguson, Jeffery and Heather Lewis, Jennifer and Eric Swope, Heather and Jeremy Ingalls, Jessica and Adam Becker, Lisa Evans, Nicholas Lewis, Nicole Lewis, Heather Summers, and Tara Kellet; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Carter, Steven, Jason, Abby, Tessa, Tamia, Dylan, Dominic, Damian, Domanic, Faith, Skylar, David, Corban, Clayton, Kaytlynn, William, Ezra, Sarah, Eddie, Abby, Jaylen, Charles, Gabriella, Nevaeh, Angel, Starr, Sophia, Aiden, and Lyla; and great-great grandchildren, Kalani, Javier, Khyson, and Elizabeth June.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Dale Lewis.
