Hamilton Southeastern Schools (HSE) announced the results of its operating referendum renewal, which garnered 70.05 percent of voter approval.

By securing the continuation of this funding, at a reduced rate of $0.1995, community members have safeguarded teacher salaries, class sizes, student safety measures, and a broad range of course offerings that contribute to the exceptional educational experiences provided by HSE.

“Once again, our community has demonstrated the commitment that it has for our schools. Thank you for supporting this referendum,” Interim Superintendent Dr. Matt Kegley said. “The engagement of our community stakeholders in shaping HSE’s future, the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers in conveying the importance of the referendum and the voter approval for renewal, attests to the strong relationship we have with the residents of Fishers and neighboring Noblesville.”

HSE Schools ranks third from the bottom in terms of state funding among the 371 school systems across Indiana. The renewal of the operating referendum will maintain HSE’s current funding level of an estimated $24 million per year.

HSE School Board President Dawn Lang expressed her gratitude.

This outcome is a testament to our community’s support of investing in education, and we pledge to continue providing the highest standards of education for our students now and into the future.”

Hamilton Southeastern Schools extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Board of School Trustees, Advance HSE led by PAC chairperson Laura Smoots, Hamilton Southeastern Education Association (HSEA), Mayor Scott Fadness and the Fishers City Council, Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen, and the countless HSE staff, parents and community members who generously volunteered their time, efforts, and financial resources to this cause.

HSE will continue to share the numerous positive developments planned for the future of the district, which serves more than 21,600 students across 22 schools.
