Boys Tennis Regionals: Three county teams make final round

Three Hamilton County teams advanced to the championship round of their respective regionals on Tuesday.

Noblesville advanced to the final of its own regional, beating a tough Frankton team 3-2 in the Tuesday semifinals. The No. 24-ranked Millers swept the doubles matches, with No. 1 Rory Bushong and Liam Shepard winning 6-2, 6-0 and No. 2 Jack Brenneman and Dane Campbell getting a 6-1, 6-0 victory. No. 3 singles Zane Panning was the clincher, getting a 6-3, 6-2 win.

No. 1 singles Ethan Feliciano fell to Sam Barr in a tight match 6-3, 7-6 (9); Barr moves on to the individual tournament. No. 2 singles Coleman Kratz dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to Max Barr.

Noblesville takes on Delta at 4:30 p.m. today for the Regional 14 title.

Top-ranked Carmel swept Crawfordsville 5-0 to reach the championship of the Lebanon regional on Tuesday.

The Greyhounds won all five matches in straight sets, including 6-0, 6-0 shutouts for No. 2 singles Rocky Li, No. 1 doubles Michael Bao and Braedon McIntyre, and No. 2 doubles David Liu and Grant Mu. No. 1 singles Jonathan Yang won his match 6-3, 6-0 and No. 3 singles Wes Worobel was a 6-1, 6-1 winner.

Carmel takes on No. 9 Park Tudor in today’s Regional 9 championship, which starts at 5 p.m.

Also at Lebanon, two county individual players will face off for the individual sectional title today.

University’s Owen Schellhase defeated Parke Heritage’s Lewie Woody 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the final. He will play Guerin Catholic’s Max Fuller, a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Western Boone’s Gavin Hawkins.

The two will play at Lebanon today for the championship.

Fishers beat Northeastern 5-0 in Tuesday’s semifinals to reach the championship at the Mount Vernon regional.

The No. 14 Tigers play No. 30 Greenfield-Central at 5 p.m. today for the Regional 8 championship.
