This coming week, the Indiana Department of Transportation will close portions of U.S. 31 in Tipton County between Division Road and State Road 28 near Tetersburg.
The INDOT Geotechnical Division will conduct tests on U.S. 31 near the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The two tests being performed are the Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD). GPR shows what is under the pavement and FWD shows soil strength.
These tests will be conducted on U.S. 31 on the following days:
- On Monday, Sept. 18 at 11 p.m. crews will close the northbound lane on U.S. 31. The official detour for this closure is U.S. 31 to S.R. 28 to County Road 560 West to Division Road.
- On Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 11 p.m. crews will close the southbound lane on U.S. 31. The official detour for this closure is S.R. 26 to S.R. 19 to Division Road to County Road 560 West to S.R. 28.
Local southbound traffic will detour to Division Road to County Road 900 West to S.R. 28.
This work is expected to be complete by 3 a.m. the following mornings, weather depending.
