Terry Joe Murray, 77, Cicero, passed away on August 24, 2023, at his home. He was born on September 17, 1945, in Noblesville to Loyd Harlan and Margaret Louise (Mosbaugh) Murray.
He grew up in the White River Township area and attended Walnut Grove school, graduating with the Class of 1963. Terry then furthered his education earning a BA degree from Anderson College followed by a MA degree at Ball State University. Both were related to public education.
Terry was a talented athlete who loved sports. His greatest memories include playing baseball for Carl Erskine while attending Anderson College. Aside from his love of baseball he was passionate about giving back and was a participating member of the Alumni Donators to Anderson University Athletics. He also supported Native American schools.
His life’s work involved teaching English and administration. He first taught and coached at Pendleton High School, then taught English at Greenfield High School, and lastly was in administration at Hamilton Heights High School in Arcadia.
After he completed his education, he married his high school sweetheart, Marsha Kay (McDonald) Murray, on July 16, 1967. She preceded him in death on January 20, 2015. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Margaret (Mosbaugh) Murray.
Surviving him is a son, Christopher (Dena) Murray of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Alea Boor and Alex Murray; and great-grandson, Timothy Boor.
Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Arcadia Cemetery, with Pastor Mark Knapp officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
