Award-winning Hoosier artist boasts several recent accomplishments

Wesley Dallas Merritt of Greentown, Ind., has been making headlines across the country with his watercolor paintings.

Most recently he won a top award at the Indiana Watercolor Society annual juried show with his painting “Here Comes the Sun.” It will be on display at the Newfields Museum in Indianapolis through Sept. 30. He also has been accepted into the 2023 Hoosier Salon exhibit at the Indiana State Museum and his wildlife painting “Canada Jay” will be on display until Oct. 22. Over the summer he was selected and exhibited in several National Watercolor Society shows including California, Alabama, and Montana with his paintings being noticed and awarded top prizes by the judges.

Also hitting the press and currently available on Amazon is the Last Stanza Poetry Journal Issue #13: These Things We Carry, a collection of poems and illustrated by Merritt with over 15 watercolor paintings from his body of works portraying mostly women and children throughout the book.

Merritt has more to offer this fall as he has released a new series of reproductions of several personal favorites and a new image this year with a fall or Halloween theme. They will be available for a limited release on his website, WesleyDallasMerritt.com.

Wesley Dallas Merritt was born and raised in rural central Indiana with a love of nature and the outdoors. He has an affinity and focus for watercolor and has begun to study and master the craft of oil paintings. His masterpieces can now also be permanent body art as he is an accomplished tattoo artist.
