Four aspiring real estate professionals have been selected to participate in Intend Indiana’s two-year Trent Garrett Fellowship.
Michael Grossniklaus of Fishers, Precious Stevenson, and Garrett Andrew Warner Sr. started their fellowship on June 5 while the final participant, Kristin Liggin, began on July 5. The program will expose participants to professional development opportunities, industry-wide networking opportunities, and real-world examples of what it’s like working in the real estate development and community development finance industries.
Each participant has a unique background that prepared them for this program.
- Michael Grossniklaus was born in Kazakhstan and raised in Fishers. He recently earned his bachelor’s in urban planning and development from Ball State University where he served in several leadership positions. He is a member of the fraternity Phi Gamma Delta and held the positions of Apparel Chair and Awards Chair and founded the DEI Chair position within his four-year college career.
- Kristin Liggin recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Martin University with a bachelor’s in business administration. During her college career, she served as an equity scholar for Martin University’s National Center for Racial, Equity and Inclusion, and interned with the Indianapolis Pacers. She began a career in property management in 2015 and became a licensed real estate broker in 2021, leveraging her property management experience to better understand the diverse housing needs of underrepresented communities.
- Precious Stevenson is a graduate of the REDI program at the Urban Land Institute, studying real estate development. She also holds certifications in several areas including Dental Assisting and Expanded Functions, Community Health, and another Real Estate certificate from the Indiana Real Estate Institute.
- Garrett Warner Sr. is an alumnus of the Real Estate Diversity Initiative through the Urban Land Institute with licenses and certifications in several other fields including beauty culture, personal training, massage therapy and life coaching. He also has experience as an educator via several of the Excel Centers in Indianapolis.
“Trent Garrett was dedicated to addressing housing disparities and improving the community,” Intend President Stephanie Quick said. “This fellowship opens the door for other people with that same passion for equitable housing to create a lasting impact on our city.”
Intend partners with community-based organizations, nonprofits, foundations, banks, and state and local governments to leverage resources and deliver impactful programs designed to meet the needs of the community. Intend Indiana is also a chartered member of NeighborWorks America.
