Westfield Washington Schools has selected the architect companies to partner on the next phase of Destination Westfield, the school district’s plan to keep up with the growth that comes along with being the top destination district in the state.

Schmidt & Associates will take on the elementary school portion of the plan, including the building of a new elementary school as well as assessing the best way to upgrade Shamrock Springs Elementary School. The firm will also build the new transportation facility.

Continuing the district’s long-standing relationship with CSO Architects, that firm has been selected to build the district’s new middle school.

Serving the fastest-growing city in the Midwest, Westfield Washington Schools has increased its enrollment every year for at least 23 consecutive years and is on pace to reach an enrollment of 10,000 students by 2026.

“We had an extensive and thorough proposal process, and we are extremely happy with the results,” said Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Brian Tomamichel. “CSO has worked on many projects for the district, including the construction of our Virginia F. Wood Early Learning Center which recently won the ‘School of the Future’ award for innovative design and functionality. We are confident they will bring that same level of production to our next middle school. And, our newest partner, Schmidt & Associates, has a track record of thoughtful design and has already shown that they understand the needs of our district and our community.”

CSO Architects Principal Brent Hite says he is ready for the next steps.

“CSO is excited and humbled to continue our collaborative partnership with Westfield Washington Schools,” Hite said. “We look forward to building on our history of creating innovative learning environments that contribute to the vision of ensuring all Rocks are Life Ready.”

Schmidt & Associates Principal Anna Marie Burrell says she is excited for their project.

“We are elated to be selected as part of the Destination Westfield team working on the new elementary schools for the Westfield family,” Burrell said. “We look forward to collaborating with the staff, students, and community of Westfield schools. Similar to the family culture that provides educational excellence out of collaboration and teamwork in Westfield, our team of architects and engineers thrive when groups come together for the empowerment of all and Schmidt Associates looks forward to the exciting journey ahead.”

Both firms will now work with Westfield Washington Schools to create building plans and a timeline for their projects. Those plans and timelines will be shared with the public when they are finalized.
