The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation hosted its second annual Heroes Run at Strawtown Koteewi Park on Saturday, Oct. 29.

This year, the race celebrated those in the fire rescue service. The race involved 5K and 10K competitions, but the fun continued with a one-mile family stroll, virtual opportunity, and plenty of free activities for children. Jackson Township Fire Department provided a real fire hose to spray down wooden fire targets, Noblesville Fire Department provided a smoke education trailer and White River Township Fire Department provided an ambulance for emergency service.  Additional educational entertainment included a fire extinguisher with a laser to put out the digital fires, and lastly, Hamilton County Parks’ new mobile nature center was a big hit. Mascots Sparky and Justice were also there to make the crowd smile.

A total of 337 brave men, women, and children (including 11 teams) registered for the race on an absolutely beautiful fall day. Their ages ranged from 4 to 83. Additionally, many participants brought their cute canine companions to walk in support of the cause. The courageous group embraced the great outdoors and showcased the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Thanks to generous business sponsors and community members, the Heroes Run raised $23,017.07 for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Community Foundation. The HCSO Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which was created to provide opportunities for the community and law enforcement to support each other. The funds generated will help reach the following goals throughout the year:

  • Provide financial aid and help for those in need in our community, particularly children.
  • Support the hardworking employees at the Sheriff’s Office
  • Build stronger relationships between deputies, correctional officers, and staff with all members of the community

Thank you to everyone who contributed and signed up for the race. You are a HERO! Please save next year’s tentative race date of Oct. 28, 2023. In the meantime, check out the HCSO Community Foundation’s Facebook page and website for upcoming exciting events and donation options.
