18-year-old steals car, drives drunk, crashes into Noblesville pond

At 5:18 a.m. on Monday, Noblesville police officers responded to the intersection of Chapel Park Drive West and Chapel Park Drive South (Noblesville) in reference to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a car into a pond.

Officers arrived on the scene a short time later and began to investigate. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the pond; however, the driver had left the scene but was located a short distance away. The vehicle was a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and was allegedly taken without the owner’s permission.

Battle

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Mason Timothy Battle, 18, Noblesville. Battle reported that he was traveling south on Chapel Park Drive South went he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the pond.

Battle received minor injuries as a result of the crash and was treated and released at the scene. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Battle was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail on the following preliminary charges: Motor Vehicle Theft (I.C. 35-43-4-2.5) Felony 6; Operating While Intoxicated (I.C. 9-30-5-1) A Misdemeanor; Illegal Consumption of Alcohol by Minor (I.C. 7.1-5-7-7) C Misdemeanor.

A charge is merely an accusation and the defendant(s) is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
