Wrestling: HSE, Heights girls show prowess at meets & invites

The Hamilton Southeastern girls wrestling team finished fourth at the Purdue Polytechnic Invitational last Saturday.

EJ Shults was the champion at 110 pounds, while Lindsey Lannen winning her second consecutive tournament at 115. The Royals had two runner-up finishers: Kiarra Churchill at 120 and Lilliana Rodriguez at 105. Lila McNary placed eighth at 135 and Daphne Gilliam finished eighth at 140.

Hamilton Heights placed third out of 26 teams last Saturday at Daleville.

The Huskies had two champions: Kendall Moe won at 110 pounds and Zoe Pugh won at 125 pounds. Moe is ranked first in her weight class and Pugh is ranked fourth. Audrey Baber placed second at 115 pounds, where she is currently ranked 14th.

Other Heights place winners were Amaelia Cordero (fourth at 170), Natalie Head (fifth at 190) and Raelynn Trent (sixth at 145).

The Huskies won a dual meet over Pike 48-11 on Monday, making them 2-0 for the season in duals.
