In an all-county dual wrestling meet, Carmel defeated Westfield 38-20 Thursday in a meet hosted by the Greyhounds.
Carmel won eight of the 14 matches. The Shamrocks kept it close through the midpoint of the meet, but back-to-back pins by the ‘Hounds from 160-pounder Jack Eiteljorge and 170-pounder Logan Hart put Carmel ahead 19-10 and in the lead for good.
The Greyhounds also got falls from Cameron Bacon at 195, and Jack Williams’ pin at 285 clinched the meet. Other Carmel winners were Brendan Mattingly at 126 and Suhas Chundi at 106 by major decision, and Garrett Sharp at 145.
Westfield winners included major decision victories by 132-pounder Milo Merkel and 113-pounder Carson Eldred. Decisions came from Noah Robinson at 138, Kyle Saez at 152, Ryan Mahoney at 182 and Esteban Perez at 120.
Both teams will compete at conference meets on Saturday. The Greyhounds will travel to the Metropolitan Conference meet at Warren Central, while the Shamrocks head to Brownsburg for the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet.
