The Hamilton Heights wrestling team made history on Saturday by doing something its never done before at its season-opening Super 6 tournament: Win it.
The Huskies triumphed for the first time ever at the Super 6. Heights went 5-0 against its opponents in each dual, including a pair of shutouts. The Huskies beat both Tipton and Randolph Southern 84-0, a perfect score in a wrestling dual meet. Heights also beat North Central 69-3, Noblesville 67-10 and Pendleton Heights 58-21.
“We’re solid,” said Huskies coach Gary Myers. “A coach waits a lifetime for a team like this and here we are. I couldn’t be more happy. We’ve been doing this a long time.”
Heights had 10 wrestlers finish the tournament with unbeaten (5-0) records. In order from lightest to heaviest, those Huskies are: Cooper Doucette (113 pounds), Justin Tilton (120), Jaylan Pugh (126), Isaac Kuhn (132), Alex Furst (138), Michael Cain (160), Jimmy Lacey (182), Evan Tilton (195), Josh Brown (220) and Mason Moran (285).
“Ten guys going undefeated,” said Myers. “When does that ever happen?”
The Huskies have six sectional champions returning: Kuhn, Cain, Carson Fettig, Lacey, Evan Tilton and Brown. Of that group, Cain and Tilton went on to win a regional title.
Noblesville finished third at the event with a 3-2 record. In their other matches, the Millers beat Randolph Southern 84-0, Tipton 59-18 and North Central 40-37, and were edged out by Pendleton Heights 36-32.
Two Noblesville wrestlers finished 5-0 for the tournament: Carter Richardson at 152 pounds and Aden Widget at 170. Lawson McRae (113) and Oscar Solis (182 and 195) both finished 4-1, while Jacob Apple was 3-1 at 285 pounds.
The Huskies host Lapel on Monday, while the Millers return to action Nov. 29 at Zionsville.

Westfield finished in second place at the Capital City Classic at Perry Meridian on Saturday to begin its season.
Three Shamrocks wrestlers finished first in their divisions: No. 9-ranked Ike O’Neill at 145 pounds, Jason Rooney at 160 and Eli Frei at 182. All three were 3-0 for the day. Rooney got a big upset, pinning No. 16-ranked Zack Huckaby of Perry Meridian in 32 seconds. Frei took all three of his matches by fall.
Porter Temples went 2-1 to finish as runner-up at 113 pounds. Carter Niccum (120 pounds), Jake Saez (132), Hank Temples (152), Hunter Jones (170) and Jonathan Tanner (195) all placed third with 3-1 records.
Westfield is off until Nov. 30 when it hosts Brownsburg.

Hamilton Southeastern’s girls team had some strong results at the season-opening Clinton Prairie tournament on Saturday.
The Royals had two champions: Emily Anderson went 4-0 to win the 126-pound class, while Fanta Sall was 2-0 to win the 195/220 division. Two more Southeastern wrestlers placed third: Kiarra Churchill at 106 (2-1 record) and Charlie Parsons at 152. Ava Shaw finished fourth at 152, while Jayda Harris was fourth at 160. Also competing were Kelli Crawford (fifth at 182), Rosa Sierra (seventh at 132) and Omana Jacob (eighth at 145).
The Sheridan girls team also wrestled at Clinton Prairie. Three Blackhawks placed third in their respective weight classes: Claudia Headlee at 160 pounds, Maria Ruiz at 182 and Zora Shepherd at 220. Nakia Bogus placed fourth at 132 pounds, while Cecelia Cox was fourth at 170. Avery Hayden placed sixth at 145, while Adrianna Hamersley competed at 126.
“I’m pretty happy with the way we wrestled today,” said Sheridan coach Steve Leonard. “It’s our first match of the season and it’s a lot of girls’ first match ever. We had some nice wins and I think we’ve learned a lot. The next few weeks will be busy, looking over tape, figuring out what we needed to work on and just improving from there. We took our first steps, now we just got to continue climbing the stairs.”

Southeastern sent a boys team to Daleville on Saturday, where the Royals went 3-0 as a team by beating Frankfort, Wapahani/Blackford and Daleville.
Five HSE wrestlers were perfect at 3-0 for the event. Will Lakes (106 pounds), Aidan Smalley (113), Matt Billet (132), Andrew Kishindo (160) and Gabe Snider (195).

Sheridan’s boys team placed second at the Cloverdale tournament on Saturday.
The Blackhawks were 2-1 at the event, beating Kipp Legacy 78-6 and Covington 72-12, while falling to Shelbyville 45-30. Five Sheridan wrestlers were perfect at 3-0 for the tournament: Owen Whitlow (106 pounds), Shane Cox (113), Jacob Jones at (182), Jace Warren (195) and Peyton Cross (220/285).
