Wrestling: Conference day for several county teams

Saturday was a big day in high school wrestling, as several conference meets took place.
Noblesville hosted the Hoosier Crossroads Conference meet at The Mill. Brownsburg ran away with the team standings, scoring 252 points. Hamilton Southeastern was a strong second, totaling 173.5 points. Ronan Hiner won an individual championship for the Royals at 170 pounds, defeating the Bulldogs’ Jahmon Spiller in a 7-2 decision.
Two weight classes saw all-Hamilton County finals. At 113 pounds, Fishers’ Griffin Ingalls edged out Westfield’s Dylan Driver in sudden victory, by the score of 4-2. The Shamrocks’ Carson Eldred then won the 120-pound bout, by forfeit over the HSE’s Jacob Simone.
The Tigers had two champions on the day. JD Farrell picked up Fishers’ second blue ribbon with a win at 195 pounds, beating Brownsburg’ Isaiah Street in the championship match by a second-period fall.
Westfield finished fourth in the team standings, with Fishers seventh and Noblesville eighth. The Millers had two wrestlers place fifth: Cesar Sierra at 138 pounds and Adam Rider at 285 pounds.

Carmel finished second as a team at the Metropolitan Conference meet, which take place at Lawrence North Saturday morning.
The Greyhounds scored 222 points, behind only Warren Central’s 280.5 points. Carmel had two individual champions, starting with 106-pounder Suhas Chundi, who beat the Warriors’ Zac Dray in the championship match by a 15-5 major decision. Brendan Mattingly won at 138 pounds, with a 10-6 decision victory over Warren’s Jevian Ross in the final.

Hamilton Heights finished third at the Hoosier Conference meet, which took place at Western.
The Huskies scored 143 points, behind the host Panthers and runner-up Rensselaer Central. Heights had two champions, starting with Luke Stohler. The 195-pounder won that division’s championship by major decision, 10-0 over Rensselaer’s Pierce Taylor. Alex Naylor scored the Huskies’ second championship, winning at 220 pounds by beating Northwestern’s Jullion Creason in a 4-2 sudden victory decision.

Guerin Catholic hosted the Circle City Conference meet on Saturday and finished as team runner-up.
The Golden Eagles beat Bishop Chatard 58-18 in their first-round match, then defeated Brebeuf Jesuit 60-24 in the second round. Guerin Catholic fell to a dominant Roncalli team 82-0 in the final.

    What about the girls state Hamilton heights had girls that placed 5th and 8th and a runner up for state championships!! This is a tough sport just wish these girls could be recognized also
