Wrestling: Carmel, HSE tie for first at Osborn Invitational

The Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern wrestling teams finished in a tie for first place Saturday at the Kyle Osborn Memorial Invitational at McCutcheon.
Both the Greyhounds and the Royals scored 219.5 points at the tournament, and both teams finished with four weight-division champions. Carmel, in fact, went 1-2 in the 145-pound class, as Eitan Halevi beat Nayl Sbay in a 7-1 decision for first place. Other winners were Gavin Thompson at 113, Isaac Ward at 126 and Michael Major at 132.
The Royals got their first victory from Zach Lang at 138 pounds. Southeastern then dominated the upper weights, with Zach Wagner winning at 182, Max Broom taking first at 195 and Dom Burgett the winner at 285.

Katie Mattingly was the champion at 138 pounds, winning the first-place match in a first-period fall.

Fishers finished third at the Bloomington South Holiday Invitational on Saturday.
The Tigers went 2-1 in three duals. Fishers fell to Brownsburg 33-30 in Round and lost to Bloomington South 56-19 in Round 2, then defeated Seymour 69-6 in Round 3.
Three Tigers wrestlers finished the event unbeaten at 3-0: Quenton Riley at 120 pounds, Griffin Ingalls at 126 and Jacob Carroll at 220.

Westfield went 3-2 at the Henry Wilk Classic Saturday at Penn High School.
The Shamrocks beat Jimtown 44-29, Edwardsburg 56-18 and Penn 42-36, while losing to Springboro 40-17 and Mishawaka 46-23.
