In an all-county wrestling dual meet, Carmel beat Fishers 65-3 Wednesday at the Greyhounds’ Eric Clark Activity Center.
Carmel, which is ranked No. 8 in the IndianaMat.com team dual rankings, hadn’t wrestled a home meet since the 2019-20 season.
“We’re really heavy with staying together,” said Carmel coach Ed Pendoski. “We haven’t wrestled at home in two years. Last year, all of our home dual meets were canceled. And so it was nice to be in front of the gym, it was nice to roll out our mats and wrestle.”
The Greyhounds won 13 of the 14 matches, including six of them by fall. Those winners were Eitan Halevi at 152 pounds, Nate Powell at 160, Sam Johnson at 195, Seth Richardson at 220, Jackson Elliott at 113 and Michael Major at 132.
Two more Greyhounds wrestlers won by technical fall: Tamir Halevi at 106 and Luke Farling at 138. Carmel 285-pounder Jack Milligan received a forfeit.
Joseph DelBusto won the 182-pound match by a 19-6 major decision. The Greyhounds’ other wins were by regular decision: Matthew Green at 170 (score of 7-2), Gavin Thompson at 120 (13-10) and Isaac Ward at 126 (6-3).
Zachary Streueder got the Tigers’ lone win, with a 6-2 decision at 145 to finish the meet.
Hamilton Heights, ranked No. 10 in IndianaMat’s Class 2A rankings, beat previously undefeated Bishop Chatard in a Wednesday away meet, 57-20.
The Huskies won eight matches by fall, starting with Charles Brown at 170 pounds. He was followed by Evan Tilton at 182, Josh Brown at 220, Mason Moran at 285, Lucas Frahm at 106, Alex Furst at 126, Jaylan Pugh at 132 and Michael Cain at 145.
