Wounded teacher makes heroic effort to save students

Jason Seaman, a science teacher at Noblesville West Middle School is being credited with a heroic effort in saving the lives students.

On Friday, a student walked into Seaman’s classroom and begin firing two handguns, striking a student and Seaman. Seaman was reportedly shot multiple times was able to disarm and restrain the shooter while informing students to run from the classroom and call 911.

Seaman was transported to IU Methodist hospital. The student was transported to IU Riley Hospital.

Seaman has taught at Noblesville for approximately four years and is the seventh grade varsity football coach.

According to a social media post from Kristi J. Hubly Seaman, Jason Seaman’s mother, Jason was “doing well” after surgery. She posted he was shot in the abdomen, hip and forearm. She also asked that people pray for the student who was shot.

“First of all, thank you to the first responders from Noblesville and Fishers for their immediate action and care. I want to let everyone know that I was injured but am doing great. To all students, you are all wonderful and I thank you for your support. [You] are the reason I teach.”
