Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) contractors Rieth-Riley and Crider & Crider will start work on U.S. 31 at 276th Street on or after Monday, June 6.

This will begin the process of shifting the intersection from a two-way stop to a free flow corridor on U.S. 31 with exit ramps on 276th Street. U.S. 31 will be completely reconstructed and realigned to accommodate the new entrance and exit ramps.

  • On or after Monday, June 6, INDOT signs will be up to notify motorists of construction in this area. Contractors will widen the shoulder on U.S. 31 northbound and southbound beginning on or after Wednesday, June 8.
  • The bridges on U.S. 31 over Cicero Creek will be replaced. 276th Street between Dunbar Road and U.S. 31 will be closed starting June 13 until Nov. 20, weather permitting.
  • Access to Reynolds Farm Equipment will be provided off U.S. 31.
  • 276th east of U.S. 31 will be closed from April 1 until Aug. 11, 2023, for the reconstruction of the road and two new ramps, weather permitting.
  • There will be two lanes open to through traffic on U.S. 31 in both directions for the duration of this project.

The $36,153,124.68 joint contract was awarded to Rieth-Riley and Crider & Crider and has an overall completion date of Aug. 31, 2023. INDOT encourages drivers to slow down and remain vigilant of workers and equipment when traveling through active work zones. Each project is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
