Tod Windlan has been let go as head coach of the Carmel girls basketball team.
The Indianapolis Star reported that Windlan had been relieved of his coaching position, citing a statement from Carmel Clay Schools. The statement said that there was “a need to change the direction” of the team and that the school would begin searching for a new head coach immediately.
Windlan had coached the Greyhounds for the past four seasons, compiling an 87-20 record. Under Windlan, Carmel has won sectional championships over the past three seasons.
Windlan was first introduced to Hamilton County when he coached at Hamilton Heights in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. The Huskies won sectionals both years, and was the Class 3A state runner-up in 2013. Windlan’s record was 44-8 at Heights.
