Wilma Irene (Jones) Pearson

April 20, 1924 – December 25, 2018

Wilma Irene (Jones) Pearson, 94, Sheridan, was born April 20, 1924 and passed from this life to eternal life on Christmas Day, December 25, 2018, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

She was a lifelong resident of the Sheridan and was preceded in death by Morris D. Pearson, her husband of 68 years; her parents, James Ira Jones and Minnie R. (Sparrow) Jones; sisters, Edith Nesbitt, Olive Jones, Gracie Moore and Eunice Eidson, and brother Noel (Casey) Jones.

Wilma was a homemaker and was active in many churches, community and 4-H activities. She is survived by daughters, Karen (Jerry) Ross, Friendswood, Texas; Linda (Denny) Cummings, Sheridan; Sandra (John) Fulwider, Tipton; grandchildren, Amy Ross, Scott Ross, Christy (Larry) Beahrs, Michael (Amanda) Cummings, Carey (Jeremy) Mendenhall and Matthew (Cinthya) Fulwider; and great-grandchildren, Cassidy Ross, Katie Ross, Emily Ross, Kyle Archer, Grant Cummings, Grace Cummings, Lainey Mendenhall, Ansley Mendenhall, Hadley Mendenhall and Isabel Fulwider.

Wilma, known to many as “Wimpy” or “Grammie,” was deeply devoted to God and her family. She was a lifetime member of Sedwick Chapel Methodist Church. During Wilma’s adult life she attended Boxley United Methodist Church and Hills Baptist Church. Wilma cherished her church family and looked forward to Sunday service and church activities.

Wilma was also very involved with Hamilton County 4-H. She was on the Hamilton County 4-H Council for many years. A lifetime member of the North Adams Extension Homemakers, every year she looked forward to raising flowers and making arrangements for the Hamilton County Fair. It is something she shared with the whole family, and even Morris would help pick flowers for the fair. Wilma and Morris were active members of the Indiana Sheep Breeders Association and Sheep Program for Hamilton County 4-H. They helped kids with their sheep projects for over 25 years.

Wilma had lots of hobbies and talents. She was an amazing cook and enjoyed making large dinners for her family and friends, especially during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, playing games and doing the crossword puzzles from the Indianapolis Star. She was on a winning streak this summer by finishing 10 days’ worth of crossword puzzles correctly.

Wilma enjoyed life and was devoted to God and her family. She was a loving role model for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of Wilma’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Hills Baptist Church, 4296 S. County Road 1380 E, Kirklin, where family and friends are invited to gather from 10 a.m. till time of services. Pastor Rex Dunning will officiate Wilma’s service. Inurnment will be held at Union Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
