William (“Bill”) Newton Bolen, 80, Fishers peacefully entered into eternal rest in the embrace of Jesus at his home on Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was a devoted husband to his beloved Suzanne for 59 beautiful years, a loving father, and cherished grandfather.
Bill was born on July 30, 1943, to James and Nora (Crabtree) Bolen in Beloit, Wis. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Bolen; children, Scott (Laura) Bolen, Traci (Brian) Lydick, Kim (Dan) Bolen, Steve (Sara) Bolen, Mike (Alicia) Bolen, and Jon (Alicia) Bolen; sisters, Virginia, Betty, Judy, Janet, and Debbie; brothers, Don, Ken, Bob, and Philip; and grandchildren, Nicole, Silas, Jeremy, Kendra, Rowan, Abbie Mae, Nate, Nick, Olive, and Ivy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Stan, and his granddaughter, Kelsey.
Bill dedicated his career to information technology, working as a systems analyst and computer security administrator at prominent companies including The Associates in South Bend and Sallie Mae in Fishers. Bill consistently used his keen intellect and sharp analytical mind to tackle complex challenges, often bucking conventional methods for more creative and effective solutions.
Family was at the core of Bill’s life, and he cherished every moment spent with Suzanne, his children, and grandchildren. Embracing life with the heart of a child, his playful spirit truly shone when he was not taking things too seriously. He had a knack for finding joy in everyday moments, like gently poking fun at Suzanne’s retelling of falling in the Aldi’s parking lot, embellishing the story, and requesting a reenactment for the family’s amusement, but all in good fun. Whether sharing laughter, creating memories, or simply being present, Bill’s love for his family was unwavering and palpable to all who knew him.
As a faithful Christian and member of Stony Creek Church of Christ, Bill left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His steadfast commitment to his beliefs and his gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by his church family and beyond. Bill found great joy in sharing the teachings of Christ, particularly through his beloved children’s Bible classes. His dedication to nurturing young hearts in faith leaves a lasting legacy of love and guidance.
A true lover of God’s creation, Bill found solace and inspiration in the natural world. Whether he was taking contemplative walks in the woods, marveling at the wonders of creation, or communing with God in quiet reflection, his reverence for the Creator was evident in every moment.
In addition to his deep spiritual and familial connections, Bill enjoyed a variety of outdoor pursuits, from hiking and camping to fishing and hunting. His passion for outdoor ice hockey with his brothers while growing up at the family farm brought him both joy and camaraderie, as well as family competitiveness.
Beyond his love for nature and outdoor adventures, Bill enjoyed engaging in intellectually stimulating activities such as strategy games, challenging puzzles, and engaging in deep discussions about life.
Bill’s life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, and a profound appreciation for the wonders of God’s creation. While he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held with his family and friends to gather to honor his memory and give thanks for the beautiful life he lived. Though we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Bill is now at peace in the arms of his Savior, where he will forever dwell in the light of God’s love.
