William Eugene Fletcher

January 5, 1955 – March 2, 2025

William Eugene Fletcher, known by all as Bill or Billy, passed away at home on March 2, 2025, surrounded by his close friends and family.

Bill was born on January 5, 1955, to Tom and Ruth Fletcher. He is survived by one brother, Jack Fletcher of Largo, Fla., one sister, Sheryl Arehart-McLaughin of Largo, Fla., and a niece and several nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Steve Fletcher.

Bill graduated from Western High School in 1973. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathryn Joanne Diller, whom he married on July 22, 1980.

Bill was employed by Delco, which later became Delphi, in 1978. Bill retired in 2008 after 30 years of service.

Bill became a Christian and was baptized in 1975. He was a past member of Courtland Avenue Church of Christ, Emerson Avenue Church of Christ, Woodland Hills Church of Christ, High School Road Church of Christ, and the last several years of his life he was a member at Westfield Church of Christ. Bill’s attendance in the last year of his life was an encouragement to many members. Bill will always be loved.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 15 at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. A Celebration of Life, with Emerson Brown officiating, will immediately follow at noon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memorials Processing, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN  38105-9959.
