Westfield-based IMMI, which manufactures safety restraints, belts and seating, has acquired SynTec Seating Solutions in North Carolina. The company says the SynTec product line will continue to be available and will transition to IMMI’s SafeGuard brand.
IMMI acquired the company from its former parent, Michigan-based Joyson Safety Systems. The acquisition was completed July 31.
“Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter for IMMI,” said IMMI President Tom Anthony. “Our team has worked hard to design the safest, highest quality seat on the market to protect our children. This acquisition helps to get us one step closer to the day that every child on every school bus will have a lap-shoulder belt when they’re traveling on our highways.”
IMMI says it will continue to manufacture SynTec’s current product line while integrating SafeGuard seats.
“We look forward to bringing together the best that both of our teams have to offer the market,” added IMMI CEO Larry Gray. “SafeGuard seats are already engineered for Thomas Built Buses, so we expect a smooth transition with this integration.”
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
