Westfield’s Brown makes final cut at Junior PGA

Consistency is paying off for Westfield’s Samantha Brown.

The Shamrocks golf star, soon to be a Westfield senior, made the cut for the fourth and final round of the Girls 2023 Junior PGA Championships, which finishes today at the Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Ark. Brown put together another round of 72 to finish, placing her tied for 18th after three rounds of play.

The overall top 30 and all ties advance to today’s fourth round. Brown is +3 for the tournament, and easily made the cut of +6. Playing at the Arlington course, she made three birdies in her third round, giving her 11 for the entire tournament.

Brown will play at the Arlington course one more time today, teeing off at 8:50 a.m.

In the Boys division, recent Guerin Catholic graduate Jacob Modleski made a surge in his third round, but fell one stroke shy of making the cut for the final round. Modleski carded a two-under par 69 in the third round, and finished tied for 31st at +1. The cut was even-par.

Modleski gave it his all as he played on the Arlington course. He made two birdies, and eagled two holes, Nos. 10 and 18.
