Through a partnership with the Westfield Police Department, Westfield Washington Schools has six School Resource Officers (SROs) within the district. Their locations are strategically distributed to ensure comprehensive coverage and quick response:
- Two SROs cover our six elementary schools, and the Early Learning Center (ELC).
- One SRO is assigned to Westfield Intermediate School (WIS).
- One SRO is stationed at Westfield Middle School (WMS).
- Two SROs are dedicated to Westfield High School (WHS).
Every school in the school district is designated as a police substation. This means that officers are encouraged to use these spaces to write reports and spend time walking through the buildings, further strengthening the security and presence in the schools. From August 2023 to February 2024, WPD had almost 3,000 school visits and 300 substation visits. That totaled almost 1,000 hours of time police officers spent inside the schools in addition to the six SROs activity and time spent in our schools.

These figures do not include the six School Resource Officers’ activity and their time spent in Westfield schools.
